The Roy Halladay Award was first developed in March of 2025.
The initial concept of the Roy Halladay Award came from Roger Kinney and Ed Henderson, both with long baseball histories in Colorado (see Board of Directors bios for more details), in discussion with Kyle Newman and Matt Schubert of the Denver Post, who oversee the Golden Helmet Award, which has been in existence for over 60 years recognizing Colorado's top high school senior football player.
Roy Halladay has always been recognized as one of the top baseball prospects ever to come out of Colorado. He attended Arvada West High School in the early 1990s. See our story on the About page of this website.
